A Lesson in Generosity

After a hectic business meeting, the tired executive parked his car and made his way towards a road side restaurant. He settled down at a table from where he could get a clear view of the street through the transparent blinds .

The ravenously hungry man ordered a three course meal along with the desserts. The eatables literally occupied the entire table as he dug into the delectable spread, oblivious of the surroundings.

A few minutes into his lunch , he looked up and noticed a boy and a girl peering through the window. One look at them & he knew that they had not eaten a good meal in days. He invited them to his table & ordered the same set of items for them as well. Their faces lit up with happiness as they relished the food & ice creams. After the meal, they trooped out of the hotel jumping with joy.

The executive asked the waiter for the bill  The waiter returned and presented the bill. The man was shocked to see that the hotel hadn’t charged him a penny for the food.

Thinking that they had made a mistake, he went to the counter to square the amount.

'Thank you sir', said the manager, who was keenly watching the saga of generosity all the while. 'We don't charge humanity'.
