It was the month of January in the year 2021. It was getting dark and one could hardly see the road buried under several feet of snow. The Indian Army personnel in Karalpura of Kashmir's Kupwara received a distress call from Manzoor Ahmed Sheikh in Pharkian village. His wife had gone into labour and he was unable to reach the hospital as no vehicle or local transport was available.
Time was running out and the Army personnel decided to act quickly. They arrived on the spot with medical staff. Carrying her on a stretcher, they escorted the woman and her family for a few kilometers on foot. Finally, they reached the Karalpura hospital where the staff was alerted about the situation in advance. The patient was attended to as necessary and soon the couple became parents to a baby boy.
In yet another incident, a CRPF team rescued a pregnant woman from a remote Chhattisgarh village and carried her on a cot for over 6 km, to get her admitted to a hospital. According to reports, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was patrolling in the jungles of Padeda village as a regular exercise, to enquire about the well-being of the villagers when they came across the woman experiencing labor pains.
According to reports, the squad of the 85th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force had some first-aid medicines with them, but they were not sufficient to alleviate the woman's pain. The woman was later admitted to the Bijapur Government Hospital and taken care of.
Be it our army or the jawans of the CRPF, they have always gone beyond the call of duty to save lives. They are second to none and every Indian should be proud of them.
