Remembering our heroes who laid down their lives for their motherland.
Reposted;
The boy's father was working as a manager with the State Bank of India. Hailing from Suryapet in Telangana, the parents were keen on providing the best possible education and sent their son to Sri Saraswathi Shishumandir School at Luxettipet in Mancherial district. After primary school, the brilliant boy secured admission to Sainik School, Korukonda in Vizianagaram district where he completed his schooling.
His name was Santosh Babu.
In 2000, Babu joined the NDA and by 2004, he was commissioned as a lieutenant in 16 Bihar on 10 December 2004, one of 105 successful cadets to make the cut. He rose through the ranks and was promoted to Colonel. Amid simmering tensions between Chinese and Indian troops, Babu was posted to Ladakh.
On the fateful night of 15th June 2020, Babu noticed that the Chinese had set up an unauthorized observation post in the Galwan Valley. He crossed over and ordered the PLA to remove the structure. In the clash that followed, Colonel Babu and 19 soldiers were killed. The Indian soldiers on learning of the death of their Colonel returned and killed an unspecified number of Chinese soldiers.
He was awarded the Mahavir Chakra for his gallantry. A statue of Colonel Santosh Babu was unveiled at Suryapet.The hero of Suryapet will never be forgotten.
We salute Colonel Babu and his brave men who sacrificed their lives for their motherland.
